2021 Tennis Update:

 We are planning on holding tennis lessons.

Maximum class size is 16 students(8 per court). Minimum is 3 students. The 6 week time period is June 14-July 29.

We are happy to announce that the USTA will once again be providing instructors for 6 weeks of lessons at Silverside.  


  1. Pre-registration will begin Monday, May 10th by emailing Peter Kelly.
  2. Please do not consider yourself registered until you receive a confirmation email from Peter.
    • No names will be accepted before that date. 
    • Your pre-registration email should include child/adult name, group registration, & weeks registering for.  
  3. Payment needs to be made prior or on June 14th. Checks need to be made payable to USTA Delaware District

  1. It is important that you register for lessons prior to June 14th, even if you will not be starting lessons until later in the summer.  Some classes fill up very quickly and USTA would like the registrations prior to the start of lessons.

We will once again be holding an end of season picnic on (date - July 22).

Attention Silverside Adults... back by popular demand:  Evening Adult Tennis Lessons!  Come learn, get some exercise & have FUN.  Yes, your kids may eat, swim and play while you are having fun!

Six-week session, Monday or Wednesday evenings
6:30-7:45 PM, Dates: June 14-July 22

We will run TWO classes this summer with a maximum of 9 Adults each.

Silverside Tennis Covid- 19 Safe Play Regulations



Please follow these guidelines- It is not worth getting yourself or someone you know sick.


  1. 6 foot social distancing must be maintained between all players at all times

  2. Must use your own tennis racquet, no sharing or borrowing of tennis racquets or any other equipment.

  3. No more than 4 players per tennis court

  4. You are encouraged to play with family members within your household.

  5. Do not use your hands to pick up the tennis balls. Use your racquet and foot and hit them back at your opponents.

  6. Stay on your side of the court. No changing ends of the court.

  7. Avoid touching the court gates, and fence.

  8. Do not use the score poles to keep score.Do not use the trash receptacles. This is a carry in/carry out court.

  9. No group socializing is permitted when finished playing.

  10. Singles play only, no doubles unless your partner is within your own household.

  11. To play safely- Where gloves. Open two cans of tennis balls that do not share the same number or are marked differently. Take one set of numbered balls, and have your playing partner take a set of balls from the other can. Proceed with play, making sure to pick up your set of numbered balls only, should a ball with the other number wind up on your side of the court, do not touch the ball with your hands. Use your racquet head or feet to advance the ball to the other side of the court.

  12. Balls from the other court should be kicked back.

1. The tennis court gate should be locked during and after use when the Club is closed.

2.Only class participants are permitted on the tennis courts during class times. 

3.Only tennis shoes are permitted on the courts (no sandals, etc.)
