2021 Silverside Swim Club Season

(Updated May 21, 2021)

Welcome Back!  As we prepare for Summer 2021 we are happy to announce that we are opening on Memorial Day Weekend!  We will continue to follow the Delaware Health and Social Services guidelines for community swimming pools.  Our members health and safety are our main priority.  We will keep this page updated as new directives occur.  We look forward to a great 2021 season!

Highlights for the 2021 Season:

  • The pool will follow CDC guidelines for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html
  • Fully vaccinated people do not have to wear masks or socially distance themselves.  Unvaccinated people should still wear masks and maintain proper social distancing.  Honor system for those who are unvaccinated.
  • Normal capacity restrictions
  • Open: Member room (for refrigerator and ice), showers and changing room, slide, diving board, shuffleboard, playground, gaga pit, basketball court, tennis, and grills are all open for member use.  The playground, gaga pit, tennis and basketball areas are not sanitized areas and are used at your own risk.
  • Closed:  Team room (temporarily, until we finish cleaning it out) & water fountain.
  • Chairs:  Lounge & regular chairs will be placed around the pool, but you are still able to bring your own chair.  Chairs provided by the pool are not sanitized by the guards.  Members will have access to cleaning supplies to wipe down their chairs which we ask them to do.
  • Guests are allowed
  • No blocks this year, meaning we are NOT shutting down the pool midway through the day to clean.  Sanitization will happen throughout the day.
  • Social events:  Our social committee has events scheduled throughout the summer.  Visit the Social Events page for more details.
  • Swim team:  We will have swim team this year & they have their meet schedule.
  • Parties:  We are allowing parties this year, they need prior approval from the pool manager; more info on our pool party page.

Guidelines

  • Symptoms:  Members should review signs and symptoms of COVID-19 before heading to the pool.  Members and employees may not enter the pool area if they are experiencing symptoms.
  • Fully vaccinated people do not have to wear masks or socially distance themselves.  Unvaccinated people should still wear masks and maintain proper social distancing.  Honor system for those who are unvaccinated.
  • No capacity restrictions
  • Masks for Unvaccinated Members:  All unvaccinated members are strongly recommended per CDC guidelines to wear a face covering when they enter the gates, use the restroom, or are at the Snack Shack. This also goes for unvaccinated children when using the playground, gaga pit, basketball court, shuffleboard or tennis courts as well.  Unvaccinated members are encouraged to carry their face covering when they are not in their seats or in the pool, in the case you cannot maintain the proper social distance.

All children who are in kindergarten and up should continue to wear face covering in public settings according to CDC guidance unless they are fully vaccinated.  Children ages 2 and under should not wear a face covering due to risk of suffocation.

  • Sanitizing Stations: Members are encouraged to frequently utilize the hand sanitizer stations that will be available throughout the pool grounds.  All are encouraged to wash hands often and cover their coughs or sneeze.
  • Children:  Children 12 and under must be supervised at all times when in the pool area. Children may not be left unsupervised when utilizing the pool.
  • Chairs & Umbrellas:  Lounge and regular chairs will be made available around the pool deck, and members can also bring their own chairs. We will have a table up by the guards with a disinfectant spray bottle and paper towels for members to wipe down the chairs provided by the pool when using them and umbrella poles and cranks.  Disinfectant spray bottles will also be available on one of the lifeguards stands as well.  Consider bringing blankets to use on the grass as well. There will be limited tables available for use. Members must bring their own table covering and clean before and after use. Umbrellas will be available on the pool deck. You may not bring your own umbrellas. You many ONLY bring a clip-on umbrella for your chair.
  • Guests:  Members are responsible for their guests and ensuring they follow the guidelines & pool rules.  Normal guest policies still apply: only 3 guest passes a season and local residents may not be admitted as a guest more than 5 times each season.  Complete list of guest policies

If your guests do not follow the proper guidelines, your guest privileges may be taken away at the pool managers discretion.

Members who are not adhering to COVID-19 guidelines will be reminded by the staff.  If a member continues the behavior, they will be asked to leave the facility.  This goes for guests as well.  Members are responsible for their guests and ensuring they follow the guidelines.  This is for the safety of all of our members.
